A new local medical teaching program has earned accreditation.
Independence Health System recently announced that the Butler Family Medicine Residency Program was recently accredited by the independent and non-profit Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
This process to create this program began about three years ago. When fully operational, the Butler Family Medicine Residency Program will welcome eight new physicians annually for a three-year hands-on residency under the supervision of faculty with different specialties in clinical settings including Butler as well as Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Graduates will be fully licensed to practice.
The program will welcome its first class of residents next year.
