Even though legislation that would expand Sunday hunting opportunities has passed another vote, a change to the law likely will not happen until sometime in 2020.
The PA Game Commission is reminding hunters that Senate Bill 147 to allow hunting on three Sundays has not yet been passed in its final form and even if it is, it will not take effect until 90 days later.
If passed, the new law would permit Sunday hunting one time during the archery deer season, one time during firearms deer season, and one other Sunday selected by the Game Commission.
The bill passed the state House of Representatives last week and will next move onto the Senate for a vote November 18th. Pennsylvania hunters currently cannot hunt anything except foxes, coyotes, and crows on Sundays during open seasons.
