The WPIAL has put together its basketball playoff schedule.
Boys Class 6A:
–Butler (18-4) will face Latrobe (15-7) in the first round Saturday at 1:30pm. The game will be played at Fox Chapel high school. Hear the game on WBUT beginning at 1:15pm. The Butler vs. Latrobe winner will meet top seeded Mt. Lebanon in the quarterfinals Saturday, February 24th.
–Seneca Valley (14-8) will meet Canon-McMillan (20-2) at West Allegheny high school Saturday at 1:30pm.
–Pine-Richland (17-5) will meet Bethel Park (13-9) at North Hills high school also at 1:30pm Saturday.
–Four teams received first round “byes”.
In Boys Class 5A – Mars is the top seed and have a first-round “bye”.
In Boys Class 4A:
–Freeport (15-6) will meet South Fayette (15-7) in the first round at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic next Wednesday at 8pm.
In the Boys Class 3A first round, Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (11-11) will meet Ellwood City (14-8) at Ambridge high school Friday at 6:30pm.
In Girls Class 6A:
–Butler (13-9) will meet Upper St. Clair (12-9) at North Hills high school next Tuesday at 7pm. Hear that game on WBUT 1050am beginning at 6:50pm.
–Seneca Valley (11-10) will meet Hempfield (11-11) at Fox Chapel high school next Tuesday at 6:30pm.
–Pine-Richland (7-13) will meet Norwin (11-9) at Plum high school Tuesday at 8pm.
–North Allegheny (22-0) is the top seed in 6A and has a first-round “bye”. They will get the winner of Butler-Upper St. Clair.
In Girls Class 5A:
–Mars (17-5) will meet Uniontown (7-12) at Gateway high school at 6:30pm Friday.
–Chartiers Valley (16-6) will face Armstrong (15-7) at Fox Chapel high school Friday at 8pm.
In Girls Class 4A:
–Knoch (11-11) will meet Belle Vernon (17-5) at Baldwin high school Saturday at 3pm. Hear the game on WISR with Scott Briggs.
–Freeport (13-8) will meet Elizabeth Forward (14-7) at Fox Chapel high school Saturday at 3pm.
–Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic (19-3) is the top seed and recieved a first-round “bye”.
Girls Basketball Tuesday – AC Valley defeated DuBois Central Catholic 52-42. Ellie Thompson led the Lady Falcons with 26 points. AC Valley, who won their first-ever KSAC-South title this season, improved to 19-4.
