WPIAL Girls Volleyball Playoffs:
–The Knoch Girls perfect season continues after the Knights shutout Central Valley 3-0 in the 3A semifinals.
The Knights earned an opportunity to defend their WPIAL title against Thomas Jefferson Saturday at Fox Chapel high school. The match begins at 4pm. T.J. defeated Elizabeth Forward 3-1 in the other semifinal game.
–North Catholic defeated Serra Catholic 3-0 in the 2A semifinals to reach the WPIAL championship game for the first time since 2005. They meet Frazier in the title game tomorrow at 2pm at Fox Chapel. Frazier defeated defending state champion Freeport 3-1.
–North Allegheny will face Baldwin in the 4A title game at 6pm.
In District-9: Clarion defeated AC Valley 3-1 in the 1A semifinals.
District-9 Boys Soccer playoffs: Brockway defeated Karns City 2-0 to repeat as the D-9 champions.
WPIAL Soccer playoffs:
–The Mars Boys season ended last night in a 3-2 loss to Thomas Jefferson in the 3A consolation game.
–The Mars Girls (18-0) will meet Oakland Catholic (17-1) tonight in the WPIAL 3A championship game. The match begins at 6pm at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh.
–The Seneca Valley Boys and Girls Soccer teams will play for their WPIAL championships in a doubleheader Saturday at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh. The Seneca Valley Girls (15-2) will meet Peters Township (16-3) at 3:30pm in the 4A final. The Seneca Valley Boys (16-2-1) will face Norwin (17-2-1) at 5:45pm.
