A jury has found a Harmony man guilty of sexually abusing an autistic child Friday afternoon in a Butler County court house.
46-year-old Shaun Sheffer was found to be guilty of rape and six other counts related to sexual assault.
The assaults took place between 1995 to 2000 when the victim was between the ages of seven and 12 years-old.
In July of 2023 Sheffer was one of fourteen Jehovah Witnesses that were charged with sexually assaulting minors across the state by the Attorney General’s office.
Sheffer is related to the victim and was able to elude suspicion as he built a close relationship, allowing for him to be left alone with the child.
A sentencing date has not yet been announced.
