Gas prices both locally as well as across western Pennsylvania have increased slightly this week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon regular, unleaded, self-serve in Butler, as of Monday, is $2.46 per gallon which is an increase of one penny compared to two weeks ago.
Prices also rose across western Pennsylvania as a whole over the past couple weeks, to $2.47 per gallon which is an increase of two cents. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in New Castle at $ 2.38 per gallon, while the most expensive is $2.51 in Mercer.
The average national gas price increased by a penny this week to $2.18. According to AAA, the market is watching a couple of tropical storms in and around the Gulf of Mexico that could become hurricanes which could slow crude production in the area and in turn impact gas prices.
