Those looking for indoor movie entertainment may have to look outside the Butler area in the coming weeks and months.
The future of the Regal Cinemas inside the Point Plaza is in doubt, according to sources familiar with the situation.
No reopening date for the Moraine Pointe 10 movie theater is listed on the website of parent company Regal Cinemas. There is also no location listed on the “careers” page for Butler employees who were laid off at the beginning of the pandemic to make contact for rehiring.
Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation shared information about the questionable status of the theater which has been open for 27 years before closing last spring as a result of the pandemic. Regal does not own the property but has been leasing from a landlord.
Regal Cinemas corporate office did not respond to two voice mails requesting comment.
