Dave Grohl took a moment at the recent Foo Fighters‘ concert in Charlotte on May 9 to pay an emotional tribute to legendary producer and musician, Steve Albini, who died a day earlier at the age of 61. Grohl worked with Albini in 1993 on Nirvana’s acclaimed final studio album, In Utero. “Tonight I’d like to dedicate this song to a friend that we lost the other day, who I’ve known a long, long time,” Grohl said before launching into the Foos’ smash hit, “My Hero,” in honor of Albini. “He left us much too soon. He’s touched all of your lives, I’m sure. I’m talking about Steve Albini. For those of you who know, you know. For those of you who don’t know, just remember that name: Steve Albini. Let’s sing this one for him.” (Spin)
