The federal Food and Drug Administration has issued a letter of warning to a nationwide retailer for selling “potentially unsafe drugs” from foreign manufacturers with multiple violations.
The parent company of discount chains Dollar Tree and Family Dollar received the letter earlier this month from the FDA concerning the sale of some products found to have “serious violations of federal law” including failure to test raw materials or finished drugs for quality.
Products identified in the letter include topical and not ingestible products such as acne treatment pads and cosmetics.
The FDA specified several Chinese manufacturers that supply products to Dollar Tree which have been placed on “import alert” which is used to prevent potentially harmful products from being made available to consumers in the United States.
