Electric vehicles are becoming more popular, but how many are being sold in Pennsylvania?
“In Pennsylvania the number of electric vehicles sold from January to June this year was just under 7,000,” PennDOT Policy Director Natasha Fackler said. “And in addition many of the electric vehicles that are registered in Pennsylvania are purchased in other states.”
As of February of this year, there were 17,000 electric vehicles registered in the state.
Officials say that while electric cars may cost more up front, maintenance and fuel costs are lower during the vehicle’s life.
