For over nine hours on June 7, drummer Greg Barton will be playing the drum parts on every song from the Foo Fighters discography in order to raise money for cancer awareness. Barton has titled his fundraising efforts, Foo Fighting Cancer, and he is undertaking the marathon drumming event in order to pay tribute to his grandmother, who is currently fighting cancer, as well as the late Foos drummer, Taylor Hawkins, who died of cancer in 2022.
In an Instagram reel to announce the event, Barton shared that the run-through of all 128 Foo Fighters songs from each of their 12 studio albums will take him nine-and-a-half hours, and he will try and make it through their entire catalog in one straight take. “Before you say, ‘That’s impossible,’ I did a six-hour play-through last month and feel confident I can go the distance!,” Barton said. Barton’s Foo Fighting Cancer event will take place on June 7th beginning at 12pm EST, and will stream on YouTube Live. (Consequence of Sound)
