According to the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Butler County and surrounding areas are hitting peak foliage season over the next week.
Fall foliage is an annual treat that enamors both the residents of the northeast, and plenty of tourists.
However, the rain this fall, combined with some aggressive winds, have made foliage season a little more drab looking than the normal presentation of eye popping color.
That still doesn’t deter “leaf peepers”—a group of tourists who head to the northeast to peep at fall colors. In fact, a 2014 report showed that in the six state northeast region—fall foliage and the activities that surround it—generated an estimated $3 billion in revenue.
So while we haven’t seen a traditional fall in Western PA, the DCNR believes we’ll start to see some yellow and orange soon.
