The state Department of Health is reminding residents that they can still receive a flu shot. Acting Health Secretary Dr. Denise Johnson encourages getting the shot since there has already been over 12,000 confirmed cases of the flu.
“Already, we have higher number of flu than we have had in the past several years. And we’re seeing that all across the Commonwealth,” Johnson said.
Here in Butler County, there has been 154 cases of both Type A and Type B flu according to Department of Health data.
Johnson recommends that eligible individuals six months and older get the flu shot. She also reminds people to cover their coughs, wash your hands, and to stay home if you’re sick.
