The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is beginning a few road projects around the Butler County area this week.
The first project is emergency repairs on the structure carrying Interstate 79 Northbound over Lancaster Road in Lancaster Township. Single lane traffic restrictions are expected to begin Monday and continue through Friday, May 8th weather permitting. This project will cost nearly $1 million and extend the highway as well as repair damage.
Other work scheduled to begin Monday on Interstate 79 will take place in Cranberry Township on the bridge over North Boundary Road. Phase 2 of this nearly $15 million project involves replacing the bridge on the northbound side. Motorists should expect travel delays as lane closures will be in place to install a temporary road onto a temporary bridge.
Finally, PennDOT will be starting bridge and roadway repairs to Chicora Road (Route 68) over Buffalo Creek in Chicora Borough, also on Monday. A temporary roadway and drainage work will be constructed to prepare for paving between Medical Center Road and West Slippery Rock Street. No detours will be necessary.
