The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Ottawa Senators 1-0 in overtime last night at PPG Paints Arena. Sidney Crosby scored the games’ only goal just over a minute into the overtime. He now has a 10-game point streak. Goaltender Tristan Jarry, who had been pulled in his last two games, stopped all 31 shots from the Senators for the shutout. It was his first shutout of the season, and first since February of 2024.
Two rookies played in last night’s game. Winger Ville Koivunen made his NHL debut after being called up from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He was joined by winger Rutger McGroarty, who made his NHL debut early this season.
The Pens are idle until Thursday night when they begin a three-game road trip in St. Louis. Seven games remain in their regular season. They remain six points out of an Eastern Conference Wild Card spot.
