
Local firefighting crews were kept busy with several brush fires around the Butler County area Tuesday afternoon.
The first incident was called into the Butler County 911 Center shortly after 2 p.m. for a shed on fire in the 300 block of Woodlands Road in Connoquenessing Township. Crews from Connoquenessing, Prospect, Evans City, and Harmony spent about an hour at that scene.
Then, shortly before 3 p.m. a brush fire was reported behind a residence in the 300 block of South Home Avenue in Butler Township that spread to a fence on Young Avenue. Butler Township and VA crews spent about a half hour battling that blaze.
Finally, shortly after 3 p.m. a field and woods fire was reported in the 400 block of Valencia Road in Adams Township with smoke visible from Union Church Road. Callery, Adams Township, Evans City, Middlesex, and Penn Township were among those dispatched to an area near a well pad for just under two hours.
