A portion of I-79 in Lancaster Township is shutdown in both directions following an accident that happened earlier Friday morning.
The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. near milemarker 92—which is in between the Zelienople and Portersville exits. Crews say a car was driving southbound when it collided with a tractor trailer sending the vehicle over the median into the northbound lane.
Dispatchers are reporting serious injuries—but it’s unclear how many people were in the vehicle.
Traffic officials say to use Route 19 as a detour.
