In a recent Instagram post, Courtney Love shared photos of her in the studio with onetime Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Maur. The post appeared on the From Her To Eternity account that Love curates along with Julie Panebianco, which celebrates women’s contributions to music. Love captioned the post: “Courtney Love and @xmadmx Melissa Auf Der Maur in London, June 13,2024 having a blast —first time in studio together in 24 years. 🔥🙌” The post sparked rumors of a Hole reunion, but in the comments, the grunge icon disclosed that Melissa joined her in the studio to work on Love’s forthcoming solo album.
When a commenter said, “please don’t tease us again with a possible reunion! hope it happens! ❤️,” someone replied, “it’s for Courtney’s album,” which Love confirmed with a simple, “yes.” Love dispelled a potential Hole reunion in 2021, “We’re all really good friends and Melissa and I are especially close. But Eric is kinda off-the-grid right now—I think he’s in Japan literally becoming a monk.” (Loudwire)
