Residents had an opportunity to meet with county officials and representatives to offer input into the county’s long term goals.
Chief of Economic Planning and Development for Butler County Mark Gordon:
“Last night was an opportunity for the residents in the area as well as municipal leaders to provide input to Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission. That group is charged with updating the long range plan for the area.”
Gordon said there were a major point that caught his interest…broadband networks across the county.
“Several citizens talked about the broadband need. It’s interesting, we think about the need for broadband and connectivity in a lot of the northern section of the county had dead spots and they’re absent that.”
He was also surprised by a concern raised by people in the southern part of the county.
“But it was also interesting to hear some folks from the southern side of it which is rather densely populated and there’s so many people that there’s an element of congestion in those areas.”
Overall Gordon said it was a productive night.
“Last night was just another example of people with a genuine heart that really care about the community that they live in so, that was nice.”
The SPC plans to release their findings in May 2019.
