Butler County has a new chief public defender.
The county commissioners announced that Charles Nedz will be taking over on an interim basis beginning next week.
Nedz has been the county’s assistant public defender since 2000. He replaces Kevin Flaherty who will leave office early next year to become the Cranberry Township District Magistrate.
Nedz has also served as a Butler Township Commissioner and is on the Slippery Rock University Criminal Justice Advisory Board.
