With the holiday shopping season now in full swing, a nationwide effort is happening tomorrow to bring the focus on local retailers.
Small Business Saturday was an effort started around 2010 after the Great Recession. It was a part of a campaign by American Express to encourage residents to support local small businesses.
The Senate formally passed a resolution acknowledging the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday.
Many communities around the area are offering promotions and encouraging holiday shoppers to visit local stores this weekend.
