A portion of the Pennsylvania Turnpike will be closed Wednesday night into Thursday morning to allow for work on a project that will ultimately replace a bridge.
Motorists may experience delays between the Pittsburgh (Exit 57) and Allegheny Valley (Exit 48) interchanges starting at 9 p.m. and continuing through 5 a.m.
State Police and maintenance vehicles will restrict traffic to a speed of 20-25 miles per hour in both directions so that a contractor can secure utility poles near the Saltsburg Road Bridge near milepost 53.
This traffic speed restriction is an alternative to full roadway closures and detours. This schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions and other circumstances.
