The city of Butler will host a couple of bicycle races this summer that could end up making money to help maintain city parks.
During a meeting on Thursday, Butler City Council approved an agreement to allow JMac Cycling to use Memorial Park Drive in Memorial Park for races on May 26 and August 25.
Butler City Councilman Jeff Smith told the board the events could bring hundreds of cyclists and spectators into the city.
The events will not cost the city any money and the organizer has pledged $10 from every cyclist entry fee to help with park development, according to Smith.
Spectators will be able to observe the race at no charge.
