A Butler City man is in prison after he allegedly assaulted a woman multiple time on the same night.
City Police say they were called to a domestic dispute in the 200 block of Kaufman Drive around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, officers found 32-year-old Jamel Barnes was uncooperative and appeared intoxicated.
Police met with a woman who was nine months pregnant and she said that Barnes had hit her and attempted to strangle her. Barnes was taken to prison, arraigned on charges, and released on unsecured bond.
Soon after his release, Barnes returned to the home on Kaufman Drive and assaulted the victim once again. Police allege that Barnes hit the victim and strangled her to the point that she couldn’t breathe. He also allegedly threatened to kill the victim and the baby.
Barnes was taken into custody and is currently in the Butler County Prison.
