The two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will get a shot at an historic third consecutive title after holding off the Buffalo Bills 32-29 last night to win the AFC Championship. There were four lead changes in the game, with the Chiefs leading at halftime 21-16.
Kansas City will face the Philadelphia Eagles who won the NFC Championship game 55-23 over the Washington Commanders. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for four touchdowns and running back Saquon Barkley scored three touchdowns.
The Eagles also forced four turnovers. They now have 10 takeaways during the three games they have played this post-season, and have not had a turnover of their own.
The Chiefs are the ninth NFL team to win back-to-back Super Bowl championships, but are the first-ever to return for a third straight time. The Steelers won two consecutive Super Bowls in the 1970’s, but failed to reach a third consecutive.
The Super Bowl in New Orleans is February 9th. The Chiefs are early 1-1/2 point favorites.
