According to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, the over 140 acre Hinch-Smith Family Farm Limited Partnership crop farm in Butler Township is the latest to be safeguarded through the Farmland Preservation Program.
With a total investment of over $350,000 including over $340,000 from the state and nearly $17,000 from the county, this operation will now be protected from future residential, commercial, or industrial development in order to preserve the future of farming and food security in the state.
