WPIAL Swimming Championships:
–Butler junior swimmer Laura Goettler became the first girl in WPIAL history to break the two minute mark in winning the WPIAL Class 3A title in the 200 individual medley Thursday. She broke her own league record with a swim of 1:58.68, dropping more than three second off her mark in 2017. It was her third WPIAL title.
In Girls 2A: Freeport’s 200 medley relay team of Ariana Clark, Alexis Schrecongost, Madison Moretti and Isabella Parks finished runner-up.
–Andrew Pierre of Mars won the WPIAL title in the 200 Freestyle in Boys Class 2A.
–Butler’s Alex Deemer finished runner-up in the Class 3A 200 Freestyle. Jack Wright of North Allegheny won the event, setting a new WPIAL record.
–Seneca Valley’s Owen Blazer was third in the 100 Butterfly.
