The contractor tasked with helping the Butler Area School District with facilities and managing capital projects continues to keep the school board informed on their progress.
In their latest update, representatives from Facilities Management Services discussed several aspects of the district’s fleet of vehicles. Of the 29 vehicles in the fleet, 18 are over 10 years old. Three have been recommended for disposal and several more may be unnecessary.
The district will continue to consider purchase plans or leasing options, as well as the possibility of adding GPS service to vehicles.
In the area of capital projects, FMS representatives are still compiling their list of high-priority needs for the district, which would include additional security cameras as well as parking lots, several roof replacements or repairs, and new stadium field turf. Major repair work also needs to be done at the Butler Intermediate outdoor tennis and basketball courts, but they could also be removed.
Planning work is ongoing with security measures planned for the Butler Senior High School with much work expected to be completed in the next two months.
