The Butler Girl’s Indoor Track & Field Team won six events – including all four relays – at the fourth Tri State Track Coaches Association meet of the year Saturday at Edinboro University. In doing so – the 4×200 relay team of Gabrielle Boden, Maddie Tonini, Chesna Tomko and Liz Simms – with a time of 1:47.95 – bettered the Indoor State Championship qualifying time. The same quartet also won the 4×400 relay with a time of 4:05.95 which also is a qualifying time for the upcoming PA Indoor State Track & Field Championships. Liz Simms won the 800 in 2:18.97 – breaking her school record that she set in 2017 at 2:19.46. Simms’ time is also a qualifying time for the state championship meet. Maggie Welty won the mile run for the second consecutive week. The 4×800 relay team of Erin LeMay, Mariah Geibel, Autumn Pettinato and Erin Gianneski earned first place as did the Distance Medley Relay team of Erin LeMay, Anna Baxter, Mariah Geibel and Maggie Welty. Chena Tomko placed third in the 400 and Jena Reinheimer placed 3rd in the shot put.
The Boys Distance Relay Team of Brett Brady, Skyler Vavro, Tim Porter and Cole Thompson won their event. Brady also made the state qualifying time in the mile run. Seven other Butler boys earned medals.
