Butler high school golfer Paige Scott won the WPIAL Class 3A Section-4 qualifier at Suncrest Golf Course Wednesday with a 76. She was the top golfer by three strokes and advances into the upcoming WPIAL Individual championship at Diamond Run on October 3rd. Pine-Richland’s Lauren Freyvogel took the Section-1 championship at Strawberry Ridge with a 71.
North Catholic’s Madie Smithco was runner-up in Class 2A Section-2 with a 78.
For the Boys: Jack Wymard of Pine-Richland took the 3A Section-3 title at Suncrest with a 72. Butler’s Brayden Setnar was fourth with a 76.
Girls Volleyball:
–Butler defeated Latrobe 3-0. Scores were 25-16, 34-32, 25-16. Leading Butler were Maria Lucas with nine kills and 17 digs, Tabitha Walker with 24 assists and 17 digs and Sophia Lucas with eight kills and 17 digs. Butler will host Fox Chapel tonight at Butler high school in a key seciton showdown. Junior varsity match begins at 6p, followed by the varsity match.
