High School Sports:
–The Seneca Valley Boys Soccer team claimed the Class 4A championship Saturday with a 4-3 victory in double overtime over top-seeded Peters Township.
–The Mars Girls defended their Class 3A championship with a 1-0 victory over Plum. The Mars Girls are joined by the Boys program as WPIAL champions this season.
–The North Catholic Girls won their first WPIAL title following a 1-0 win over Avonworth in the 2A championship game.
–The North Catholic Girls Volleyball team won the Class 2A WPIAL championship following a 3-1 match win over Ellwood City.
–Knoch high school’s Brooke and Ally Bauer fell in the PIAA 2A championship match Saturday.
–Laura Greb – also of Knoch won the Class 2A consolation match for a third-place finish.
–Three local runners came home as state medalists from the PIAA Cross Country championships over the weekend. Butler’s CJ Singleton finished sixth overall in Class 3A. Seneca Valley’s Noah Peterson was 14th. Knoch high school’s Mike Formica was 11th in Class 2A – while the North Catholic Girls team ran to a third-place overall finish.
