Riders of Butler Transit Authority buses now have a new option to pay their fares.
The authority has finalized a partnership with Token Transit to offer commuters a mobile ticketing option.
Commuters can purchase their bus passes anywhere, at any time on their mobile device.
- Download: Install “Token Transit” from Google Play (android) or the App Store (iOS). Commuters can also text TOKEN to 41411 to receive a download link
- Purchase: Select a Butler Transit Authority fare type (single ride, 15 Trip Pass or 31 Trip Pass).
- Activate: When a passenger is ready to ride, they simply tap their pass to activate it. The active trip is valid for 30 minutes from the time of activation. All passes are stored in their Token Transit account.
- Ride: As the passenger boards the bus, they show the driver their digital ticket.
The mobile ticketing option is just one more technology feature for commuters utilizing the buses between Butler and Pittsburgh, according to the BTA. The commuter buses already offer: USB charging ports, free WIFI, GPS and real-time bus tracker information. Also available are free park n ride lots, comfy coach seats and access to an emergency ride home program.
