The Butler BlueSox completed a two-game sweep of the West Virginia Miners following an 11-1 victory last night. The Sox have won seven straight. Knoch graduate Cole Shinsky earned the victory, allowing one run over five innings. Three Sox players, including Dom Bucko, had three RBI’s. Butler will visit Kokomo tonight to begin a five-day road trip. The Bowie Baysox scored four time in the ninth inning to rally past the Altoona Curve 5-2 last night.
Pittsburgh Pirates closer Felipe Vazquez is part of the National League All-Star team for the game tonight in Washington, D.C. Nationals Max Scherzer will start for the N.L. Chis Sale of Boston will start for the American League. The game begins at 8pm and will be televised on Fox.
Former Pirates Gerrit Cole and Charlie Morton of the Houston Astros are part of the American League All-Star team.
Washington outfielder Bryce Harper won the annual Home Run Derby last night over Kyle Schwarber of the Chicago Cubs.
