Pennsylvania state lawmakers will soon have a house vote on a bill that a local elected leader co-sponsored that aims to protect online consumers.
State Representative Stephenie Scialabba co-sponsored the bill that would require online retailers to protect consumer privacy and limit the collection of consumer data.
The Attorney General would oversee the authority and enforce violations.
It passed through a house committee with bipartisan support and will head to the house for a vote.
The legislation had been introduced in the last legislative session but the session expired before it could pass through both legislative houses.
