An event that provides bicycles to kids for free will take place this weekend.
This year’s “Bicycle Rodeo” is scheduled for Sunday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Butler City Farmers Market on South Chestnut Street.
For the past several years, local city resident and business owner Denny Offstein has sponsored and organized the event. He will do so again this year.
“We’re hopefully going to have 300 bikes ready to be given away,” Offstein said in an interview.
Offstein is still accepting new and used bicycles at his business at 418 Hazel Ave. in Butler if you would like to donate. Organizers are also looking for face painters and church groups, who are encouraged to simply show up and bring a table.
Kids must live in the city of Butler and be between the ages of 5 and 15 years old to receive a bike.
