A local lawmaker is introducing legislation he believes will improve community safety.
Representative Aaron Bernstine has put forward House Bill 849 which would establish a public registry for individuals convicted of child abuse.
This legislation would require those convicted of certain child abuse offenses like aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and corruption of a minor to provide up to date information with State Police that would then be able to be easily accessed by the public.
This proposal will next move to a House Committee for further consideration.
