Butler County Community College is repairing their fire training burn building.
College officials say the project is underway to replace haydite blocks that are designed to help withstand flames while firefighters train on handling active fires.
The three-story building is utilized by numerous fire departments from Butler and surrounding counties.
The Butler County Fire Chiefs Association is contributing $30,000 to help pay for the $76,000 renovations.
Scott Frederick is president of the Butler County Fire Chiefs Association that represents 31 fire companies or departments and 600 active paid or volunteer firefighters.
“With its central location, (BC3’s burn building) is a tremendous resource to train and equip firefighters with the knowledge necessary to go into fires and save lives and property,” Frederick said.
The burn building opened in the early 2000s on BC3’s main campus in Butler.
