Butler Area School District families with questions about transportation and busing for the upcoming school year are being asked to confirm information online, in person, or by phone before the first day back to class on Thursday.
In a letter to parents, Butler Superintendent Dr. Brian White apologized for the delay in getting correct information sent out, which he blames on “significant software issues.”
“We want to apologize for the delay in getting our transportation information to families this year,” White wrote in a letter Monday. “We are experiencing significant software issues with Versatranz (our transportation system) and Tyler (our student information system). As a result, we have been significantly delayed in getting information to families. In addition, some of the information that was previously sent was incorrect.”
Families who have not yet received a transportation card should log onto the district’s online student information system to view all necessary information. Families who have received a card in the mail should do the same to confirm the information and stick with the information online if there is a discrepancy. For those unable to access the online system, transportation information will be available for elementary and middle school families at their upcoming Back to School Night and Kick Start Kindergarten events.
Parents can also call the office of the student’s school to get information.
“We are aware that the Back to School events for the Senior High School, Intermediate High School and Center Avenue will take place after the first day of school,” White said. “If your child attends the SHS, IHS or Center Ave. and you are not able to access Tyler, you can call the office at your child’s school to confirm his or her transportation information.”
The district says additional staffing has been brought in to work through the issues as quickly as possible.
“We believe we will have the issues resolved prior to the first day of school on Thursday, but that will not leave us enough time to mail updated transportation cards,” White said.
