Bow hunters across the state are getting ready for the beginning of archery season this weekend.
Archery deer season begins Saturday and the Pennsylvania Game Commission would like to remind hunters that the season will continue through November 19 including Sunday, November 14th. Late archery deer season runs December 27 through January 17.
Hunters are reminded that illuminated nocks are allowed, transmitter tracking arrows are illegal. Also, tress stands or climbing devices that damage trees are unlawful without permission from landowners. The law also requires hunters on private property to carry written permission from the landowner when hunting on Sundays.
The Game Commission is offering a free online course about tree stand safety through their website and will conduct drawings from those who complete the course to award sporting goods gift cards.
