Seneca Valley graduate Jack Graham was selected in the 38th round of the Major League Baseball draft Wednesday by the Baltimore Orioles. Graham was part of the Slippery Rock University baseball team the past two seasons, after beginning his collegiate career at Youngstown State. Graham, a junior from Zelienople,, becomes the 21st Slippery Rock baseball player to ever be drafted in the MLB draft. It marks the third straight year Slippery Rock had a player drafted and the fourth time since 2009 that The Rock had a player drafted. Graham missed the entire 2014 after suffering a pre-season injury.
Graham is the son of Brian Graham, the Orioles’ Director of Player Development, and was selected with the 1,153rd overall pick in the 38th round Wednesday night.
Seneca Valley has produced several players in recent years who have made their way to major league organizations. Cory Mazzoni, a former Raiders pitcher, is currently a reliever for the San Diego Padres organization and had reached the majors this season. Kyle Helisek was cut during pre-season by the St. Louis Cardinals, but is currently with the Washington Wild Things.
