Pennsylvania’s attorney general has announced a settlement with Intuit—an organization that oversees Turbo Tax.
Josh Shapiro says in a statement that Turbo Tax deceived some residents into paying fees to use their service, despite claiming it was for free.
The settlement was for $141 million; Shapiro estimates that around 158,000 state residents will receive compensation. Consumers who qualify are expected to receive a direct payment for around $30 for each year they were misled into paying for filing services.
