High School Sports:
Boys Basketball:
–The Karns City Gremlins defeated Clarion-Limestone 66-54 last night and clinched the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference South title. Karns City wins the title via a tie-breaker over Keystone. Freshman Nathan Waltman led the Gremlins with 18 points. It is the first divisional title for Karns City since the KSAC begain divisional play in 2007.
–AC Valley defeated Forest Area 96-62. Dalton Callander led the Falcons with 24 points.
Girls Basketball:
–Karns City-60 Clarion-Limestone-17. Emily Hegedus and Livia Andreassi had double-doubles to lead the Gremlins. Hegedus netted 17 points and 15 rebounds. Andreassi added 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Bowling:
–The Butler high school boys bowling team finished third at the WPIBL team championships Wednesday at Wildlife Lanes in Lower Burrell. Butler qualifed third overall, then fell 2-1 to Franklin Regional in the semi-finals. (Franklin Regional defeated Norwin 2-1 in the championship). Jordan Reges led the Golden Tornado with a 588 series and high game of 255. Trey Barto added a 202 in his only game, which helped Butler move past North Allegheny into the semifinal round.
The Butler girls compete in the WPIBL team championships Thursday at Family Bowlaway.
