The Pittsburgh Pirates completed a three-game series sweep of the Cincinnati Reds following a 9-2 victory Sunday. It was their ninth win in a row. Corey Dickerson had four hits, including his 11th home run. Gregory Polanco had his 17th home run of the season. Starling Marte hit his 15th, and Sean Rodriguez hit his fifth.
Starting pitcher Ivan Nova allowed two runs on five hits while pitching into the seventh inning. He improved to 6-6 this season.
The Bucs are now 51-49 overall and have moved into third place in the National League Central Division. They remain eight games behind first-place Chicago. The Pirates are 4-1/2 behind the final N.L. Wild Card.
The Pirates visit the Cleveland Indians tonight beginning at 7:10pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:45pm. Trevor Williams will go to the mound for the Pirates. (7-7, 4.36 ERA). Corey Kluber will start for Cleveland. (12-5, 2.76 ERA).
