The Butler BlueSox defeated the West Virginia Miners 6-5 last night in the Prospect League. The victory snapped a two-game losing streak, and keeps the Sox within two games of first place Jamestown. Reliever Eli Martin recorded his first victory as a BlueSox player. Zach Spangler closed the game for his fifth save of the season.
The two teams meet again tonight at 6:35pm. The Sox head to Richmond, Indiana for a two-game series Thursday and Friday. They will be back home Saturday for a Fireworks night.
Former BlueSox and Indiana University of Pennsylvania player Ryan Uhl was selected Tuesday in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Seattle Mariners. Uhl had a record-setting year for the Crimson Hawks with 29 home runs. He was a first-team Division II All-American.
