The San Diego Padres defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-1 last night to split their four-game series. Pirate starter Jeff Locke allowed seven runs, six earned in just four innings. His record fell to 3-3, and his ERA jumped to 5.34 overall. Reliever Vance Worley pitched the final four innings and did not allow a run, striking out four, but the Bucs were held scoreless until Gregory Polanco hit a solo home run in the 7th inning.
The Pirates are in San Francisco to begin a three-game series tonight. Gerrit Cole will start for the Bucs. Game time is 10:15pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 9:50pm.
