A child was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in the City of Butler.
The call came into the 911 Center just before 4 p.m. for an incident in the 900 block of West New Castle Street near the intersection with 6th Avenue.
According to police, a young male child was struck by a vehicle and the driver stayed at the scene. A portion of the road was shut down to allow for an ongoing investigation.
A medical helicopter was called to land at Butler Memorial Hospital and transport the child to Pittsburgh for additional treatment.
