
Some local students will observe Read Across America Week with theme days during the upcoming week.
On Monday, students at Mars Area Primary Center as well as the Elementary and Centennial Schools will have the chance to participate in “Surf’s Up for Reading” Day and wear a Hawaiian shirt or beach wear. Tuesday is “Reading Jogs the Mind” Day with students able to wear exercise clothes. Other themes include “Read Your Shirt” Wednesday, and “Reading Gives You Superpowers” Thursday.
Also, the Mars Area High School Student Council will sponsor a blood drive Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donors must be in good health as well as at least 16-years-old and weigh more than 110 pounds. All potential donors must present identification, and any students who are 16 must submit a signed parent consent form, which is available on the district website.
