The Jackson Township Planning Commission rejected a plan last week that would have placed further restrictions on oil and gas wells.
Currently the DEP regulates these wells, but community members wanted to add more restrictions for where future wells were built.
These wells can be used by residents as additional income and several residents spoke out against the proposed amendment.
The measure was rejected by the planning commission. No word on if a further plan would be proposed in the near future.
