Pennsylvania is filling more state correction officer jobs.
According to Department of Correction officials, the state saw a 5.7% drop in vacancy rates this January.
Officials believe moving the new lowered minimum age for trainees to 18 and allowing out-of-state applicants to apply has helped numbers. They say adding officers helps lower vacancy rates increase safety, reduce burnout, and save taxpayer dollars.
