The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference has released its annual Fall Top 10 awards recipients—presented to men and women student-athletes who excel in both the classroom and athletic competition. Slippery Rock University is represented by three of the top-10 on the 2024 Fall list, including a Butler County graduate:
–Jennifer Cichra is the Butler resident, who had a 4.0 cumulative GPA while majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in computing – and was also a First Team All-PSAC performer in Cross Country. Jennifer became the first SRU female athlete to ever win the NCAA Elite-90 award, and helped The Rock win a second-consecutive PSAC championship.
–Jennifer’s Cross Country teammate Anna Igams, an Avonworth graduate, joins her on the PSAC Fall Top-10 list. Igams was the PSAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year, and won both the PSAC and NCAA Atlantic Region championships. She was the second female athlete to win a PSAC title, but first to win a Regional. Igams also posted 4.0 GPA as a graduate student.
And—SRU quarterback Brayden Long is part of the PSAC Top-10 list. Long led the Rock football team to the national semifinals, while also carrying a perfect 4.0 GPA in Sport Management. He was a two-time Harlon Hill finalist as a player, but also the only Division II finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, recognizing academic success on the national level. Long is from Hanover, Pennsylvania.
No other school had more than one student-athlete recognized on the Fall list.
